Manual Overview

The 6M16 is an in-line, water-cooled, 4-stroke, direct-injection, turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine built for power generation applications, known for its compact structure, reliable operation, and low fuel consumption. Startup & Running Notes

Before starting, oil level in the oil pan should always be checked never while the engine is running and Baudouin Power’s special engine oil should never be mixed with other oil brands. On new or reworked engines, the fuel system air is bled and the engine run at 2/3 rated speed for 15 minutes before stopping, with the turbocharger’s intake/exhaust manifold sealed with oil spray during initial cranking with the starter motor.

Cooling and Lubrication
The engine’s cooling system must be filled with pure coolant containing rust-inhibiting and anti-corrosion additives, protecting the water tank and cooling chamber and preventing cylinder liner and cooling system damage. Engine oil such as 15W40 can be used within specified temperature ranges, with preheating recommended in occasional low-temperature conditions.

Maintenance & Safety Notices

Before delivery, every 6M16 engine is tested to strict specification. The manual warns against dismantling the lead sealing on the throttle to raise its openness, and against dismantling or impacting the turbocharger rotor or loosening main bearings, since these are precision components not intended for field adjustment.
